Description

- translate texts requested by the ECA’s directorates from at least two EU official languages (one of which should be English) into Maltese;

- revise/review in-house documents translated into or drafted in Maltese;

- revise/review and evaluate outsourced documents translated into Maltese;

- contribute to linguistic and terminology work in the Maltese language (ECA termbase), particularly in the audit field;

- provide, when required, language assistance to auditors in the context of their audit missions;

- participate in other communication and language-related tasks in the interest of the Institution.

Responsibilities

  • - a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more, or  a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and appropriate professional experience of at least one year when the normal period of university education is at least three years, or  where justified in the interests of the service, professional training of an equivalent level. 
  • - relevant professional experience in translation and revision, especially of EU-related documents;
    - a sound knowledge and experience of CAT tools;
    - good communication skills;
    - appropriate editing skills;
    - ability to work under pressure autonomously and as part of a team;
    - ability to respect deadlines;
    - willingness to evolve and openness to new technical challenges and to change.
  • - a degree in finance/economics;
    - familiarity with audit-related subjects.
    - excellent command (mother tongue or minimum level C2 in understanding, speaking and writing) of Maltese.
    - as English and French are the ECA’s official working languages, a sound knowledge of English (minimum level C1 in understanding, speaking and writing) and a good knowledge of French (minimum level B2 in the same categories) are required.
    - knowledge of any other EU language will be considered an asset.
