Russian Linguist

Description

  • Understand job or client specifications and completing all language translations, interpretations, analyses, and research accordingly.
  • Identify and make sense of language patterns.
  • Complete accurate transcriptions of audio recordings and tabulating data.
  • Analyze documents and texts and translating complex information into simple language.
  • Study languages, cultures, and societies in order to draft national and school language policies.
  • Collaborate with other Linguists and discovering and documenting the origins of words and the authenticity of texts.
  • Provide translation and interpretation services to the government, military, and other private and public sectors.
  • Keep abreast of new research and developments that influence language.
  • Train, recruiting, and supervising junior Linguists.
  • Attend conferences, lectures, and workshops to expand your skillset and professional networks. Receive, tracking, logging and monitoring organizational tasking actions. Sub-tasks shall include receiving actions, entering them into an appropriate record, indicating an assigned action officer as specified by the on-site technical manager, and tracking status and completion of each action. File a copy of each completed action. Consolidate subordinate element inputs into a smooth draft response for technical manager review and approval.

Responsibilities

  • Have general knowledge of the organization, its mission, functions and activities; and a general knowledge of DoD Special Activity Team (SAT) Operations.
  • Must possess a high level of skill in oral and written communication. Capable of communicating effectively verbally, and to able to write clear and concise products. while ensuring the preservation of sensitive matters under discussion.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Possess a working knowledge of regulations, directives, processes and procedures, for the control of highly classified materials.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 35 words a minute.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have at a minimum a DoD Secret Clearance. Preferred Top Secret.
  • Must have at least two years’ experience in writing and editing documents.
  • Must be proficient in conducting objective research to ensure documents are prepared with consistency of expression, logical organization and development, readability, appropriate formatting, and conformity of grammar and style to DoD standards.
  • Must have passion for language and lifelong learning.
  • Must have practical experience with translation and transcription software.
  • Must possess excellent organization, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Must have superb language fluency.
  • Have a working knowledge of SharePoint is highly desired.
  • Have a workingknowledge of Microsoft Access is desired.
  • Have a working knowledge of LINUX, PYTHON and LinkedIn is desired.
    • Be a native speaker and/or a BA/BS degree in linguistics, or related discipline is preferred.
    • Having completed additional language courses are recommended.
    • Note: No matter which of the above paragraphs apply to the education and experience of the contract employee, the linguist must be able to successfully perform the tasks outlined in their assigned category with minimal oversight.
