Translations Intern

Description

  • Translate from English into Spanish a variety of AARP branded material, including web-based articles on social issues, health, technology, entertainment, finances, etc
  • Subtitle videos into Spanish using specialized subtitling software
  • Conduct quality control (review/proofreading/editing) of third-party translated documents and videos
  • Review and update glossaries, style guides, and databases

Responsibilities

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program in Translations from an accredited college/university in the United States or Puerto Rico and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and video communications platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Exceptional written communications skills and attention to detail
  • Native/Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Knowledge of Spanish grammar as prescribed by the Real Academia Española (RAE)
  • Knowledge of translation and review of best practices
  • Cultural awareness
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise

We offer

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
