Description

Reads, comprehends, and rewrites material in designated languages preserving the original meaning. Research industry-specific terminology and use sources such as dictionaries, thesauruses, and specialized translation software. Proofreads translated texts following linguistic rules related to grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Maintains logs/progress reports to track progress of pending and upcoming translation requests. Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs. Maintains consent forms and other documentation, ensuring data integrity and consistency in computer database and written records. Attends meetings with team members as needed. Establishes and maintains contact with clients such as patient/participants, health care providers, community agencies and study/research sponsors. Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Responsibilities

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Must have certification or license which required written and oral language proficiency examinations in Spanish-English language pair, valid in the State of Florida.

Experience in translating regulatory documents such as clinical protocols, informed consent forms or similar.

Experience in the conduct of clinical research/medical communications. Knowledge of specialized medical vocabulary and oncology on working language pairs (i.e. source language and target language).

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe PDF.

Organizational skills and detail-oriented.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
