National Bilingual Translation and Communications Coordinator

Our marketing and communications team is growing, and we’re seeking a Bilingual Translations and Communications Coordinator to join our team in this new role. This team collaborates closely with JDRF colleagues across the country and provides the marketing and communications support for JDRF’s programs and events.

Responsibilities

  • Write French first content in plain language, for both online and offline channels including web/digital, social media, video scripts, newsletters, annual reports, information sheets, print and digital ads, press releases, media briefings, speaking notes, etc.
  • Help to implement French editorial calendars with original and translated content
  • Develop and write French ad content for print and digital, as required
  • Translate documents and texts from English to French as requested from departments across the organization, ensuring translation quality standards and deadlines are met, and are in alignment with JDRF/FRDJ messaging and brand
  • Utilize the principles of plain and simple language and consistent use of terminology in accordance with the JDRF/FRDJ lexicon and have the ability to adapt communications and messaging specifically for Francophone audiences
  • Manage the flow of translation requests and assign work to freelance translators, as required.
  • Review and edit externally translated materials for core programs to ensure accuracy, consistent language use, and alignment with national messaging.
  • Proofread materials, online content, and messaging to ensure accuracy, consistency in language and messaging with the FRDJ/JDRF brand.

  • Fully bilingual (written and verbal) in French and English with the ability to write and review content in both French and English
  • University/College degree in a related field of study and a minimum 2 years of communications experience in a national non-profit, agency, Marketing and Communications Department or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience in project coordination with a proven track record of successfully developing and coordinating multi-faceted projects from start to finish, on time and within budget; knowledge of project management/planning software
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills in French and English, for a range of communications channels and formats (online, speeches, media materials, articles, backgrounders, presentations, newsletters)
  • A deep desire to not only learn about, but to understand type 1 diabetes research
  • Ability to develop and review translation of research or complex technical communications for a lay audience
  • Team player and a relationship-builder who thrives in collaborative environments
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities.

Location: Flexible within Canada – We are a remote-first organization so it is expected the incumbent in this role will work remotely from home.
