Language Translation Project Manager

This position is tasked with managing end-to-end language translation projects for Federal government clients. The projects will vary greatly in size and scope and requires the ability to plan and execute support to meet tight deadlines. This client-facing role will require strong verbal and written communication skills with not only customers, but various internal functional stakeholders to ensure success. The role will be supervising a small team and will require ability to delegate tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies project requirements and scope, and estimates costs and time requirements for successful project completion
  • Manage the entire life cycle of multiple localization projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Follows all stipulated quality assurance procedures and resolves quality assurance issues
  • Becomes expert in the usage of CAT tools (TRADOS) including the ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Continually strengthen and build client relationship with a focus on:
  • Taking the client’s long-term goals into consideration
  • Educating the client on internal procedures and linguistic/technological issues
  • Managing client expectations
  • Proposing possible solutions (technological, linguistic and organizational) for handling projects
  • Coordinate all the project phases and efficiently predict the lifespan of all the stages of the project
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with contract translators and proofreaders globally
  • Monitor and control projects status
  • Manage project finances, including budgeting
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation
  • Comply with relevant and applicable procedures
  • Perform quality checks at various stages of process to ensure quality and accuracy (proofreading, final eye…)
  • Briefs Director of Operations and other Senior Staff on project status, shortfalls, issues and proposed mitigation

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Experience with CAT tools and Translation management software (Trados or Plunet/XTRF)
  • US Citizenship
