Description

The Department of Languages, Literature, and Communication is seeking to appoint four Lecturers in English Language & Linguistics. The positions are for a period of 4 years and include 0.07 FTE career development time, starting from the academic year 2021-2022. The Lecturers will be involved in high-quality teaching and supervision activities at both Bachelor's and Master's level.

Profiel:
The successful candidates will have the following general and job-specific qualifications


General Qualifications:

  • a PhD in a relevant area (by the starting date);
  • a near-native command of English;
  • good communication skills;
  • University Teaching Qualification or readiness to acquire them.

Responsibilities

Job-specific expertise and teaching experience in one or a combination of the following subject areas

  • English linguistics (phonetics, grammar, variation);
  • Academic writing and academic speaking;
  • Language acquisition (L1 and L2) and EFL teaching;
  • Intercultural communication (in an English context);
  • Sociolinguistics (from an English perspective);
  • Research methods in linguistics (incl. statistics).

We offer

We offer a temporary position (0.7 FTE) for a period of four years. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €2,790 and €4,402 (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
