About The Team

Reporting to the VP of Product Strategy for Technology Products, the Senior Principal Product Strategist will drive forward high-level strategy and near-term, and long-term roadmap focused on API and Integrations at Workday. He/she will work across a wide variety of cross-functional stakeholders, teams, and product areas and be the accountable owner for driving the strategy with all the teams.  


Given the dynamic nature of Workday and the diverse, extensive reach of the Technology Products and Technology organizations, the Senior Principal Product Strategist must always be looking forward, anticipating different alternatives and options to determine and articulate our strategy.  

About the role

  • Bring together disparate teams to focus and create a cohesive narrative across various offerings and products in the API Platform and Integrations space 
  • Provide data driven insights to leadership on the API Platform and Integrations market and industry across short-term (one to three year) and long-term (three to five year) time horizons.  
  • Translate key market / industry / technology trends, competitive intelligence and prospect / customer feedback into actionable and innovative product capabilities.
  • Create product vision based on the market opportunity, target customers, product positioning, competitive analysis and go-to-market plan.  Ensures alignment with Corporate Strategy to enable a unified vision.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing and Services to define how we commercialize, launch and deliver new products and functionality.
  • Gain strong understanding of External market, competitive landscape and how Workday’s customers position and prefer Workday’s product offerings in this space 
  • Define and maintain the long-term (three to five year) product strategy and investment priorities that inform the roadmap and ensure clarity of vision.  
  • Prioritize build / partner / buy strategies in partnership with Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development and Workday Ventures.
  • Create the three year roadmap and plan across a variety of teams, tools, and organizations 
  • Work with strategic customers to define the participation, direction and focus for the customer / industry advisory councils.
  • Provide thought leadership and vision for the API Platform and Integrations domain and can communicate the vision and roadmap for Sales, Marketing and key Workday Customer Center visits.
  • Communicate with industry analysts to articulate our strategy and optimize our positioning relative to the competition.
  • Act as approved spokesperson for the PR / AR activities, keynotes, blogs, and podcasts. 

Responsibilities

  • Has deep domain knowledge of API platform and integrations; at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies and implications.
  • Experience creating, launching and communicating enterprise software product strategies. 
  • Understands the overall Workday product portfolio and customers and can leverage existing assets to create strategic solutions that drive customer value.
  • Partners well with internal and external stakeholders to create and deploy product, marketing, sales and delivery strategies.
  • Ability to learn quickly on a fast-paced team including highly technical areas 
  • Ability to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and professionally 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including comfort with communication with senior executives 
  • Team-player attitude with eagerness to dig into the details 
  • Ability to think about problems from different perspectives and leverage data driven analysis to drive roadmap development and prioritization.
  • Personality that thrives in a fast moving, quickly changing atmosphere.
  • Strategy consultant experience at one of the big consulting firms, a plus
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in business, marketing, strategy or related field; MBA a plus
