User Experience Designer

Want to improve the lives of a couple of million people?

We’re looking for a passionate Designer to join the team crafting tools used by millions of people around the world. You’ll focus on the needs of a diverse set of humans to help them prepare for the expected and handle the unexpected throughout the course of their day. You’ll be an important member of an international User Experience team who actively support one another and love to solve problems.

Sound exciting? Great, read on!

What You’ll Be Doing

Partner: you’ll work with Product Managers, Developers and others throughout Fourth, to think through every aspect of our products, crafting solutions for the people that keep your favorite restaurants, hotels and other hospitality businesses humming. Our team is a true peer to Engineering and Product Management, with all of the capabilities and responsibilities that implies and we often work directly with our clients and their employees to ensure we serve their needs.

Craft: you’ll own your projects from start to finish--initial concepts sketched out with a PM through to the final pixel-level detail and everything in between, including regular user research, testing, and feedback gathering. The space we work in is deep, so you’ll learn and design for a wide array of customer needs, contexts and challenges.

Unify:  you’ll help us pull together a disparate set of existing applications as well as new functionality to form a cohesive product suite that delivers an excellent end-user experience.

Grow: we’ll partner to help you move along your chosen career path. The Branching Career Path lays out how we see the opportunities for Designers at every point in their careers if you’re curious.

Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

You have at least two years of experience as a professional designer working on web or mobile products or services. We love recent grads, but this role requires experience.

Your portfolio showcases your UX chops and product design skills. We’re looking for product design work, not websites or marketing collateral. Please include a link with any required passwords with your application.

You are passionate about user-centered design and understand how to unite user goals with those of our business.

You use Sketch and InVision or similar design tools for design and prototyping (we currently use Sketch, InVision and Abstract).

You bring a deep understanding of web and mobile design constraints.

You enjoy jumping from high-level concepts into detailed design conversations, and back again.

You are collaborative and communicative by nature and excited to work with people around the world.

You know how to deliver and receive constructive criticism, and while you have opinions, you leave your ego at the door.

You’re curious. You continually iterate and improve your designs, skills, and processes, and you like to help the rest of your team level up.
