About The Role

As the Director of Marketing & Creative Operations at Udemy, you will be leading a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of passionate and amazing operators. You will lead the following sub-departments as part of the Brand Marketing department leadership team: creative operations, creative project management, and localization.


Creative Operations - Your main responsibilities include partnering with the Senior Director of the Global Creative team to shape the Global Creative team’s strategy, resourcing, and priorities. In addition, you will partner with the Creative team leads of copy, production, video, and brand to run the day-to-day.

Creative Project Management - You will lead a team of 3-4 Creative Project Managers and Video Producers to make sure the train is running smoothly and well-coordinated between all the balls that are being juggled on the team. Setting overall team strategy and process development/improvement will be well within your wheelhouse to make sure the creative team has the support they need and the stakeholders are being kept in the loop no matter the complexity of the project/program.

Localization - You will lead a team of 3 Localization Project Managers and Coordinators to set overall strategy and structure. Familiarity and experience working with localization workstreams and translation challenges is a must as well as comfort working with a remote team that is in a different time zone (the team is based in Dublin, Ireland).

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing

    • Run the day-to-day operations of the creative team and lead/assist in setting creative strategy and team structure conversations
    • Continuously poke holes in the team’s processes to improve existing process to respond to feedback, identify areas where process is missing, and implement training and support for new process rollouts
    • Be a champion of the creative education process with other departments in the organization
    • Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders and outside agencies/vendors to lead projects and programs for the marketing team and beyond
    • Lead and be ultimately accountable for all creative projects delegating to the creative project managers appropriately
    • Lead larger-scoped cross-functional programs like a rebrand
    • Manage different annual budgets as well as tracking project/program-specific budgets
    • Be the main point of contact for agencies, third-party vendors including tools/platforms
    • Mentor and manage a growing operations and creative team to help cultivate personal and professional growth
    • Be a thought partner and the ultimate collaborator to your cross-functional teams
    • Alignment and knowledge sharing between departments including a close partnership with the B2B operations team

Responsibilities

  • 8-10 years of experience in operations in creative, brand, and marketing (project and program management - must have experience working with larger cross-functional programs)
  • At least 4 years of management experience
  • Experience working both in-house and at agencies including working with legal and procurement teams to create and finalize SOWs
  • Demonstrated ability to set annual team strategy and goals and follow them through to completion
  • A deep familiarity and understanding of creative workflows (including the mix of global to local creative) and marketing channel experience for everything from emails to social to video
  • Experience leading large creative teams with big budgets and resource challenges
  • Ability to be a strong IC to roll up your sleeves and lead projects/programs as needed
  • Strong organizational and time management skills as well as written/verbal communication
  • A genuine passion for operations and an understanding of how operations feeds into the larger organizational success
