Transformation Director

6-12 month initial contract

Large Insurance client

Remote then London based

This role is best suited to someone with a track record of structuring, mobilising and executing complex change alongside a competitive retail (insurance) environment. The ideal candidate will be able drive and balance the focus of delivery through new ways of working, robust and predictable programme execution, strong stakeholder management, and relentless focus on the business outcomes and will have a track record in successful agile delivery.

Key responsibilities

  1. Manage the transition from strategy into transformation - accountabilities / experience around taking an articulation of a strategy, translating this into a transformation roadmap / set of transformation modules that deliver on both capabilities and broader aims of the strategy (e.g. better ways of working, greater level of agility)
  2. Structure and mobilise the transformation programme ; Establishing the governance and structure of the programme, including the design authority / transformation office function, the fit to wider UK governance, the execution governance and oversight for individual initiatives (, Resource planning (incl. internal / external mix and resource backfill)Scoping engagement for and selecting / on boarding transformation partners Lead cross functional delivery teams through execution, with ultimate oversight of delivery and problem solving
  3. Ensures that the delivery of programme outputs and capabilities are aligned to maximise the realisation of benefits
  4. Manage changes in roadmap direction, scope, costs, resources and timing.
  5. Medium to long term planning - proactively making the business aware of changes in technology/processes etc that would provide benefits and returns on investment.
  6. Ensures cross-programme dependencies are identified and managed effectively.
  7. Manage 3rd party suppliers and programme partners as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Proven organisational skills with a clearly methodical approach.
  • Demonstratable understanding and business domain knowledge in an organisation that is commercially focused and driving for rapid growth and expansion.
  • A significant and demonstrable track record of successfully delivering business/ people/ technology/regulatory and digital focused programmes using agile and waterfall methodologies
  • A significant and demonstrable history of realising the expected programme benefits
  • Expertise in bringing together diverse stakeholders to achieve timely delivery
  • Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues across all business units
  • Ability to bring together a diverse range of people to form an effective team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with often conflicting and changing priorities
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Project and Visio
  • Exceptional aptitude for problem solving, and follow through
  • Excellent communication skills and customer facing skills.
  • Experience of agile prioritisation and delivery methodologies, and using a transformation programme to incubate and embed these new ways of working within an organisation
  • Experience around managing the transition from 'programme mode' back into BAU execution
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply at all levels of the organisation including to the Executive team.
  • A project or programme qualification such as MSP, PRINCE2 or Agile (SAFe)
