Description

The aim of the Translation Project Manager role is to provide suitably qualified/experienced translations to a range of public sector organisations, private companies requesting assistance to translate documents for non-English speaking clients, and to ad-hoc individuals. We require an able multi-tasker to join our team and the ideal applicant must be a dynamic individual who can work under pressure, is a great communicator and takes pride completing a task to a high standard. Previous experience working in the language industry in a Translation Project Management role is highly desired.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Receive translation projects via email and through our secure platform from our established clients, managing each one end to end, from capture to production, QA and delivery.

· Calculate and prepare quotes for our clients based on project volume, services required and other specificities

· Obtaining all necessary information in advance of projects starting

· Negotiate with translators to provide the requested service at the expected level of quality whilst remaining as commercially profitable as possible

· Preparation of files for translation (currently using SDL Trados Studio)

· Monitor translation projects to ensure the deadline and requirements are met

· Ensure full communication is kept with translators and clients regarding their projects

· Ensure priority is given to the most urgent projects

· Check translations before sending them to clients to make sure they meet the requirements

· Ensure all data is recorded on our system for tracking and monitoring, including notes regarding your jobs that needs to be available for all staff to see

· Make amendments to Link data when requested to by the client, ensuring that linguists are aware of any changes (such as cancellation, amendments or additions to the projects), and making sure that confirmation of such changes is given to the client.

· Arrange subcontracted services where we are unable to provide our own translators

· Meet client deadlines and contact times

· Generally manage your client’s accounts, keeping good relationships with key stakeholders and understanding how to best support them in their long term projects

· Work closely with our Recruitment assistant to ensure they are aware of your needs and have the opportunity to source the right linguists for the right jobs

· Develop good working relationships with clients being sympathetic and understanding to their needs and advising them quickly when they have queries

· Develop a good working relationship with linguists ensuring a wide range of translators are given the opportunity to work for us

· Assist other departments when information is required regarding your bookings

· Work efficiently as a team, supporting each other to ensure everyone can meet their targets at peak times

· Take telephone calls from clients and linguists where needed

· Deal with queries from clients and translators regarding your bookings

· Provide cover for your team in their absence

· Troubleshooting to ensure we provide the best possible service when things go wrong

Responsibilities

Qualities needed as a translation project manager

· Computer literate (essential)

· Knowledge of the language industry and of translation in particular

· Translation project management experience (highly desirable)

· Qualifications (BA or MA) in Translation studies, Languages or another related field (desirable)

· Knowledge of translation software (SDL or other) (desirable)

· Create a positive atmosphere for your work colleagues (highly desirable)

· Be committed to your workload and actively seek to complete your projects in a timely manner

· Be enthusiastic, willing and show initiative where possible

· Be able to work under pressure effectively and accurately and for prolonged periods of time

· Keen interest in developing your skills based on the needs of the office

· Work as part of a team on a daily basis

· Understand and appreciate the needs of the business and that translation project managers will play a vital role in the profit margin of the projects carried out

· Have care and concern for the work done, aiming to always work to the best of your ability

· Ability to learn and progress in an ever fast-paced environment

· Have an interest to develop your knowledge in the language industry
