Our client, an international freight forwarding firm with offices around the globe, is looking for a new member to join their Operations Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience in a freight forwarding environment, to take the next step in their shipping career journey.

Specialising in sea freight, road freight and customs clearance services, they provide full logistical services to a wide variety of customers. Providing clients with an exemplary level of customer service is at the very core of what they do and so they are looking for a like-minded individual who is keen to grow with the business.
Their offices are a modern, open-plan design and are based near to the Felixstowe port with easy access to the A14.
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Provide freight forwarding “cradle to grave” service to clients.
 - Checking, preparing, and processing a variety of shipping documents in connection with packing, customs, and insurance related requirements.
 - Always have full knowledge of a shipment’s cycle to be able to update clients of its progress.
 - Liaise with clients, suppliers, as well as HMRC, Port Health & Defra by telephone and e-mail in a professional manner.
 - Constantly monitor the transportation process from collection to delivery.
 - Always provide an exemplary level of customer service by keeping the customer continuously updated and informed to meet, manage, or ideally exceed expectations.
 
Experience
- At least 1 year in a freight forwarding, customer-focused environment. A solid understanding of the freight forwarding process is an essential requirement for this role. Further logistics/courier experience is also deemed beneficial.
 - Experience in dealing with carriers and suppliers such as haulage/transport companies.
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 - Computer literate essential and able to use e-mail, the internet, and various computer systems (training provided for in house systems).
 - High attention to detail and strong accuracy skills.
 - A can-do, positive attitude to tasks and an ability to engage, learn, and think outside the box.
 - Multi-lingual candidates are considered highly desirable
 - Whilst a distinct advantage, customs clearance experience is not an essential requirement
